Edward "Murphy" Jenkins October 26, 1951- July 23, 2007 PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL— Edward "Murphy" Jenkins, 56, of Panama City Beach, FL. died Monday, July 23, 2007 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2007 in Cascade Hills Church with interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Rev. Jim McIlrath and Johnny Updike will officiate, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Pallbearers will be Bill Gaddy, Speedy Gilstrap, Frank Watts, Bill Chester, Chris Parker and Sterlin Hicks. The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, July 26, 2007 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jenkins was born October 26, 1951 in Columbus, GA., the son of the late Edward and Wilma Woolbright Jenkins. He lived in Panama City Beach / DeFuniak Springs, FL. for the past two years and in Columbus, GA. all of his life. He retired from Muscogee County School District in 2005 after thirty years and was currently with the Walton County Florida School System as a teacher and coach. He was Methodist by faith. Survivors include one son, Brandon H. Jenkins of Columbus; one daughter, Brittany Jenkins of Americus, GA.; one sister, Susan Hall of Thomasville, GA. Judy Gay Bryant (Cera)

Murphy was a person that I considered a dear friend.  Many special memories of his friendship from CHS and Columbus University.  My regret, that I did not have the opportunity to watch him coach.  Rest in peace, my dear friend.
