Charles Eason Hall, Sr. October 25, 1951 - December 4, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA — Charles Eason Hall, Sr., 58, of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the sanctuary of St. Luke United Methodist Church with Dr. Hal Brady and Rev. Laura Eason officiating. Burial with DeMolay and Masonic services will be at Parkhill Cemetery following the church service. Family will receive visitors at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Macon Road on Monday, December 7, and Tuesday, December 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Hall was born October 25, 1951 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Charles Quillian Hall and Mae Irene Eason Hall. He was the grandson of the late Charles Young Hall and Frances Louise Turner Hall and the late Walter Schley Eason, Sr. and Fannie Mae Myers Eason. Mr. Hall is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sally Jane Sasser Hall; his children, Charles Eason Hall, Jr., Arthur Eugene Hall, and James Eric Hall, all of Columbus; sisters, Diana Irene Hall Richardson (Fred) and Frances Charlene Hall Kerce (Roger); sisters-in-law, Joyce Marie Sasser Smith and Eugenia Irene Sasser Poole, all of Columbus; uncle and aunt, Walter Schley Eason, Jr. and Ellyann Greene Eason; nieces, Amy Louise Richardson Byars (Javan) and Claire Irene Richardson Robinson (Josh) of Atlanta, Laney Shea Kerce, Mae Nicole Dewberry, and Torie Lynn Kerce, all of Columbus; nephews, Michael Poole (Roxanne) of Cartersville, Daniel Patrick Smith and Matthew Noh Smith of Michigan, Corey Jack Kerce and James Patrick Garner, both of Columbus; great-niece, Caroline Ruth Byars and great-nephew, John Howard Robinson; first cousins, Lesley Eason Lester (Greg), Luann Eason Heslin (Jim), Reverend Laura K. Eason, and Lynda Schley Eason; second cousins, Elly, Jay and Patrick; and a loving extended step family. Charles was a 1969 graduate of Columbus High School and a 1974 graduate of Columbus College with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. He was employed by AFLAC for 31 years, currently as a second vice-president, stock options plans administrator and equality compensation plans. Mr. Hall dedicated a majority of his life to service in community, civic, fraternal, and religious organizations, most importantly proud of his service to Columbus Chapter Order of DeMolay, Columbian Masonic Lodge F&AM #7, York Rite Bodies (R.A.M.), Scottish Rites Bodies of Columbus, Royal Order of Jesters Court #146 and Columbus-Ft. Benning Shrine Club. Mr. Hall also has served as officer and board member of Coweta Falls Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, Georgia State Society Children of the American Revolution, International Board of Rainbows Advisory Board, Muscogee Sail and Power Squadron, Ft. Benning Chapter O.E.S. and Boy Scouts of America Executive Board. Other dedicated volunteer service has included Historic Columbus Foundation, Inc. and Riverfest Weekend, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, Muscogee County fire and rescue department and St. Luke United Methodist Church.
